My story

During an internship on the maternity ward in Tanzania, back when I was still training to become a nurse, I felt a deep sense of clarity, this is what I’m meant to do. When I returned to the Netherlands, I followed my heart and enrolled in midwifery school.

In the years that followed, I worked with passion and dedication in various midwifery practices, most notably at the Geboortecentrum in Amsterdam, where I spent the longest period of time. Throughout that journey, I had the privilege of supporting hundreds of women and their partners through pregnancy, birth, and the early stages of parenthood. It’s a profession I continue to find incredibly meaningful.

My own path to motherhood began about seven years ago. After stopping the pill, my period didn’t return. I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). The message was clear: conceiving naturally would be difficult, and hormonal treatment was the recommended route.

But that didn’t feel right for me at the time. I wanted to first explore what I could do myself.

Within the medical system, I found little support for that approach. So I began searching, learning, and trying things on my own. With help from a dietitian, acupuncture, targeted nutrition, lifestyle adjustments, supplements, and stress regulation, I slowly found my way back to balance.

My cycle fully returned, along with a renewed sense of trust in my body. I began living in sync with my cycle—taking more rest as my period approached and using my energy around ovulation. By tuning into what my body needed in each phase, I started to feel better, both physically and mentally.

I stopped fighting against my body and started working with it. I also allowed space for physical sensations and emotions. Not as something inconvenient to push away, but something to accept and understand. It’s still a work in progress, of course. But my body became an ally instead of something that was getting in my way. My self-love also began to grow.

I learned a great deal about how the nervous system works and how deeply it affects your hormones, cycle, and overall health.

It took time, trust, and perseverance. It wasn’t an easy road, but I got to know myself and my body more deeply. Eventually, five years ago, I conceived our son Mees naturally. Three years later, our daughter Loua was born.

That experience shaped me, both as a woman and as a care provider. I know what it feels like when getting pregnant doesn’t come easily. How uncertain and lonely that journey can be. And how meaningful it is when someone truly sees you, thinks along with you, and looks beyond the purely medical findings.

Fertility never stands alone. It reflects how you live, eat, sleep, think, and feel. It’s intertwined with your hormones, your nervous system, your environment, and your emotions.

With my background as a midwife and through my own journey, I now combine medical expertise with cycle awareness, lifestyle coaching, orthomolecular knowledge, and insights into the nervous system. No one-size-fits-all protocols—just a personal approach tailored to your unique story.

Because you deserve to be truly seen and understood.

And to receive the kind of support that aligns with you.
